Positive Transition Services provides supportive holistic housing program to clients to end homelessness

On any given night in the United States, it is estimated that over 550,000 people are homeless. Many of the individuals who experience homeless do so for a variety of reasons, many of which are not of their own making. In 2013, Positive Transition Services opened in Fulton, Georgia to address the Atlanta and surrounding areas’ homelessness problem. It is estimated 3,200 people are homeless within the city itself.

Positive Transition Services has grown organically since opening its doors. In its first year, the organization housed four people and helped them gain qualification, work, and healthcare. Positive Transition Services has provided well over 300 individuals free and low income housing. The organization not only seeks out housing for individuals, but it enables each person to receive the substance abuse, mental health, and primary care.

Individuals housed by Positive Transition Services have used the help provided to improve their lives in various ways. Many have become highly qualified in an area of expertise and achieved meaningful employment. The group has worked with individuals released from prison and helped them to become gainfully employed. Providing meaningful work and housing to these individuals helps to keep the rate of recidivism down.

Founder and Executive Director Bartola Anderson started the organization to create a non-profit focused on ending homelessness by offering affordable housing placement, supportive services, empowerment, and educational initiatives. Anderson has a background in government and education and through Positive Transition Services, supports, advocates, and connects those in need with supportive services that increase self-sufficient and lifelong sustainability.

By putting people first, Positive Transition Services has housed and helped individuals feel like a part of the community. Now, those individuals are giving back and are valued members of society.
